I have to say that I take my hat of to single parent families and working mums of young children.
Yesterday I got in from work and it was no stop. I sat down for 5 mins then started to cook dinner, whilst I was doing that I also put some beef in the oven that needed to be cooked off for my sandwiches. When i had cooked the dinner and dished it up I sat down again with the exgf and my son and ate that, then I was back in the kitchen and making pudding, ok it was just opening a few times and sticking it in the microwave, but this took more time and energy out of me, when that was eaten (and I could hardly move after eating to much) it was back for me to be in the kitchen to clear the rubbish etc from the sides that I had left, yes I know I should have cleared as I went and I did for dinner just not pudding. I left the washing up for the exgf to do today and got all the washing that needed to be folded from the kitchen and took it in to the lounge where I could fold it watching the TV and also have a bit of a rest.
I have to say that I could not do this everyday and admire the people that do, I was cream crackered by the time I had finished folding the washing, a lot of it was mine so didn't mind to much. I don't know where single parents and working families get there energy from.
So what about Christmas, well it was very very very good.
I managed to get out to the pub a few times and have a laugh with friends, my son absolutely loved Christmas day and the time I was off and was utterly spoilt. Christmas Day he had his presents from us then in the evening his presents from His nan and grandad as well as uncles and Aunt. He is at the perfect age now to, he slept till about half 8 but when he got downstairs the look on his face was magic, he couldn't believe what had been left under the tree for him and the first thing he did, was to check that Santa/Father Christmas had eaten his gingerbread and drank his milk as well was the reindeer drinking their water.
I would list here what he got but my memory isn't that great and I don't have the hours, he did love his Electric quad bike and his push bike. Rest of the toys he also loved but seeing him on his push bike was great and hi picked it up so quickly I was amazed, his friend had a go but he kept trying to peddle backwards.
New Years eve was spent round a friends house and a good time was had by all, we watched TV chatted and drunk and I was fine till just after the bells chimed and I went outside for a smoke and when I came back in I was slaughtered, I think mixing beer, Jack Daniels, fizzy wine and Champagne was not a good idea. I got up at 11am New Years Day as my head was killing me, I went downstairs and got a couple of headache tablets as I went back up my son and exgf were in the same bed and fast asleep, so I went back to my bed and woke up at half 2. I didn't feel as bad but the exgf and my son were up and had had lunch and were dressed. I got dressed and we picked the car up.
Since a time over Christmas we have definitely said we are now no longer together and things in the house have been going a lot better and we even had sex Sunday night just gone. I know its a head screwer but hey it was when we were together.
